Etsy sales diagnosis

Why Is My Etsy Shop Not Getting Sales?

“No sales” is not one problem. The fix depends on whether buyers are failing to find you, failing to click, or visiting without purchasing.

Diagnose the stage where buyers disappear

A shop can have no sales because it has almost no qualified traffic, because listings appear but do not earn clicks, or because visitors reach the listing and decide not to buy. Etsy’s search guidance separates query matching from ranking and notes that listing quality and customer experience can influence search performance, so sales problems should not be reduced to title keywords alone.

Current Etsy guidance used here: Etsy’s 2026 title guidance and current Search documentation describe search as a holistic system using listing fields such as titles, tags, attributes, descriptions and the first photo, alongside listing/shop quality signals. Title guidance · How Etsy Search Works · Search checklist

1. No impressions: investigate discoverability

If listings barely appear in search, inspect relevance first: accurate titles, varied tags, specific categories, relevant attributes and descriptions that clearly describe the item. Then compare demand and competition for the product itself.

2. Impressions but few clicks: inspect the search-result offer

If Etsy shows the listing but shoppers do not click, the problem may be the first photo, visible title wording, price, shipping signal or how distinctive the product looks next to competitors.

3. Visits but no orders: investigate conversion

When traffic reaches the listing but sales do not follow, look beyond SEO. Photos, price, delivery expectations, personalisation instructions, reviews, trust, product-market fit and unanswered buyer questions can all matter.

4. Make sure keywords match buying intent

Traffic from broad or loosely related phrases is not automatically valuable. Etsy’s own guidance recommends using relevant search terms and testing what brings qualified shoppers, not simply maximising keyword count.

5. Change one layer at a time

If you rewrite the title, tags, photos and price together, you will not know what changed the outcome. Start with the largest diagnosed weakness, then monitor impressions, visits and orders.

Do not over-diagnose: Do not use a high Listing Health score as proof that a product should sell. The checker measures listing structure and relevance signals it can observe; it cannot measure real market demand or guarantee conversion.

Run the listing diagnosis before changing everything

EtsyDoc can check the title, description and optional tags you paste for structural issues, repetition, clarity and cross-field relevance. It cannot see your true search volume, competitor conversion rates or Etsy’s private ranking data, so use the result as one diagnostic layer rather than a ranking guarantee.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers
Why do I get Etsy views but no sales?

That pattern usually points more toward conversion than pure discoverability. Review photos, price, offer clarity, trust, delivery and whether the traffic is coming from relevant buyer-intent searches.

Can better Etsy SEO fix no sales?

It can help qualified shoppers find a listing, but SEO cannot guarantee purchases. If traffic is already healthy, conversion and product-market fit may matter more.

How many views should an Etsy listing get before a sale?

There is no universal number. Conversion varies by category, price, season, traffic source and buyer intent. Use your own shop data rather than a fixed benchmark.

Should I lower my price if I have no sales?

Not automatically. First identify whether shoppers are seeing the listing, clicking it and understanding the offer. Price is only one possible conversion factor.
